Game Wrap 9/22/2017: Dodgers 4 Giants 2

The Giants did not play well and the Dodgers clinched the NL West Division title, but at least it was on their own field.  Key Lines:

Gorkys Hernandez CF- 1 for 3, BB, SB(11).  BA= .252.  Hernandez led the game off with a bunt single, stole 2B and scored on Buster Posey's line drive single up the middle to give the Giants an early lead.  That was the last run the Giants scored until the 9'th inning.

Pablo Sandoval 3B- 1 for 4, HR(8).  BA= .213.  Sandoval has a 4 game hit streak in which he is 8 for 15 with 2 doubles and 2 dingers.

Jeff Samardzija RHP- 4.1 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 4.51.  Dingers have been Shark's nemesis and 3-run dingers will kill you.  He gave up a 3-run dinger to Bellinger in a the 4-run 3'rd inning.

Josh Osich LHP- 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 6.31.  Osich' first appearance in 10 days and it was dominant.  He struck out Yasmani Grandal with the bases loaded to end the 5'th inning and then sailed through the 6'th.  This was his second scoreless appearance after a series of rough outings early in September in which he couldn't get anybody out.

Reyes Maronta RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K.  ERA= 1.93.  Seems like Maronta must be forcing himself into a crowded mix for next year's bullpen.

With the Loss, the Giants maintained their lead in the race for the #1 overall draft pick by 1 game over the Phillies, 2 games over the Detroit Tigers and 2.5 games over the White Sox.
