Down on the Farm: 4/11/2017

AAA  Sacramento River Cats outlasted the Salt Lake City Bees 8-7 in 11 innings:

Christian Arroyo SS- 2 for 5, 2B, BB.  BA= .421.
Jae-Gyun Hwang 1B- 2 for 5, 3B, BB.  BA= .278.
Austin Slater RF- 2 for 6.  BA= .300.
Chris Stratton RHP- 4.1 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 1 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 10.38.
Kyle Crick RHP- 2 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 0.00.
Kraig Sitton LHP- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 0.00.
Josh Osich LHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's, Save(2).  ERA= 0.00.

What happened to trying Arroyo in LF?  Seems like he might be able to help the Giants there right now.  Crick used to get frustrated and fold his tents when he got baserunners.  He seems to be dealing with tough situations better than in the past.  Osich seems to be getting Save Ops and converting them.

Gomez made 2 errors at 2B, but the kid can hit.

Little Giants hitters are fattening up on the hitter havens in SoCal.

  1. Random Moreno and Tylor Horgan both pitched in the Richmond game, with Horgan picking up the W. Any word as to why 2 position players had to take the mound so early in the season, in a 10 inning game?

  2. Sorry for typos. Autocorrect can be a b... That's Rando (not Random) and Horan (not Horgan)

  3. Note from Richmond: Altoona Curve took a 3-2 lead into the top of the 10th, but in the bottom Shaw put a drive into center field for a single (technically) while driving in 2 runs to end the game in walk-off fashion. That's likely a double if the game don't end simultaneously, but some great heroics from the Squirrels early in the season.

Pulling for Gomez to also figure out his defensive act - He could be a serious bat in little time, but it's going to take some serious extra hours of grounders and coaching, if at all...
