Scouting the 2017 Draft: Jacob Heatherly

Jacob Heatherly LHP, HS.  6'3", 210 lbs.

Jacob Heatherly is a stout HS lefty who hails from Alabama.  He doesn't throw in the high 90's, but commands a FB that sits 89-93 MPH and has hit 95 to both sides of the plate and adds 2 advanced secondary offerings that he delivers from a mid-high 3/4 arm slot.  His size and stuff comp to Brett Anderson who is a pretty good pitcher when he's healthy.

Update:  I saw a report that Tristan Beck was having back problems and may not start the season on time for Stanford.  A prolonged absence would likely lower his stock enough that the draft eligible sophomore would wait until next draft when he would still have a year of eligibility for leverage.
