Down on the Farm: 7/9/2016

AAA  Tacoma Rainers defeated the Sacramento River Cats 5-3:

Andrew Susac C- 2 for 4, HR(4).  BA= .257.
Chris Stratton RHP- 5 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 5.75.

Susac stays hot.  Stratton is back to starting and stretching out his innings.

AA  Trenton Thunder blanked the Richmond Flying Squirrels 5-0:

Christian Arroyo 3B- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .278.
Dan Slania RHP- 6.1 IP, 3 H, 5 R, 0 ER, 4 BB, 8 K's.  ERA= 2.74.
Christian Jones LHP- 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 4.39.

Kind of a ragged line from Slania but love the K/IP.  I saw a couple of people complaining about Arroyo's season on another site(not the host of the site).  I would point those people to Joe Panik's season in Richmond and to Arroyo's age which is 2 years younger than Panik at the same level.  The Transition from A+ ball to AA is the second toughest in baseball after the transition to the majors.  Oh, and Arroyo is hitting .293 over his last 10 games.

High A  Stockton Ports pounded the San Jose Giants 11-5:

Dylan Davis RF- 4 for 5, 2B, HR(3).  BA= .333.
Cristian Paulino 3B- 3 for 4, 2B, HR(3).  BA= .251.
Reyes Maronta RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 2.00.

Dylan Davis is having a terrific season.  He is still just 22 yo, so he still has time.  Paulino hit .298 in the month of June and is hitting .308 over his last 10 games.  He has just 3 BB's all season in 175 AB.  LOL!

Low A  Augusta Greenjackets doubled the score on the Columbia Fireflies 8-4:

Lucius Fox SS- 1 for 3, BB, SF, SB(19).  BA= .221.
Miguel Gomez 2B- 4 for 5, HR(8).  BA= .381.
Dillon Dobson 3B- 2 for 5.  BA= .281.
Matt Winn C- 2 for 5.  BA= .216.
Johneshwy Fargas CF- 2 for 4.  BA= .281.
Grant Watson LHP- 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 4.84.
Conner Kaden RHP- 2.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 4.70.

Fox continues to hang in there. Remember he did not turn age 19 until July 2.  July 2?  Hmm…..  Anyway, he also made his pro debut in this year in the SAL which is a heckuva tough place to get your feet wet in pro ball.  I am really scratching my head over why Gomez has not been promoted.  Must have to do with defense and positioning?

Short Season  Salem-Keizer Volcanoes topped the Boise Hawks 4-2:

Gio Brusa LF- 2 for 5, 2B.  BA= .395.
Heath Quinn RF- 3 for 5.  BA= .298.
Bryan Reynolds CF- 1 for 3, 2B, BB.  BA= .320.
Gustavo Cabrera DH- 2 for 4, HR(3).  BA= .254.
Hengerber Medina RHP- 5 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 4 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 4.50.
Patrick Ruotolo RHP- 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 0.00.

*********************************************************************************

Rookie AZL  Giants were idle.

*********************************************************************************

DSL  Twins smothered the Giants 5-0:

Ismael Munguia LF- 2 for 5, 2B.  BA= .348.
Jose Rivero SS- 2 for 3, BB.  BA= .273.
Diego Rincones RF- 2 for 4.  BA= .312.
Johan Herrera RHP- 5.1 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 2 K's, GO/AO= 8/1.  ERA= 2.36.

  1. Maybe Gomez will force the issue and make a jump like Sandoval did back in the day. Good to see Gustavo hitting. After his accident, it didn't sound like he'd be around for a while.
