Down on the Farm: 6/30/2014

AAA  Fresno Grizzlies edged the Sacramento River Cats 4-3 in 10 innings:

Brandon Belt(1B)- 3 for 3, HR(2), BB.  BA= .636.
Chris Dominguez(3B)- 1 for 5, HR(10).  BA= .274.
Jose DePaula(LHP)- 4 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 4.86.
Heath Hembree(RHP)- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 3.58.

Looks to me like there is no reason why Belt cannot be in the Giants lineup tonight.  DePaula has shown flashes, but I was hoping for more.

AA  Richmond Flying Squirrels defeated the Harrisburg Senators 6-4:

Jack Snodgrass(LHP)-  8 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 0 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 2.99.
Jose Casilla(RHP)- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA 2.83.
Steven Okert(LHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K, Save(2).  ERA= 0.00.

Casilla has a 1.32 ERA over his last 10 appearances, probably his strongest stretch in at least 3 years.

High A  San Jose Giants were idle.

Low A  Lexington Legends topped the Augusta Greenjackets 6-5:

Jeremy Sy(2B)- 1 for 4, HR(6).  BA= .228.
Eric Sim(Catcher)- 2 for 4, HR(2).  BA= .231.
Rando Moreno(SS)- 2 for 4.  BA= .206.

Short Season  Vancouver Canadians buried the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 10-2:

Christian Arroyo(SS)- 1 for 3, HR(1).  BA= .184.
Johnshwy Fargas(CF)- 1 for 2, 2 BB, 2 SB(4).  BA= .231.

Rookie AZL  Giants outscored the Dodgers 9-6:

Randy Ortiz(CF)- 0 for 4, 2 BB, 2 SB(10).  BA= .433.
Kevin Rivera(PH-2B)- 2 for 3, 2B.  BA= .235.
Skyler Ewing(DH)- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .212.
Richard Amion(LF)- 2 for 4, HR(1), BB.  BA= .321.
Michael Santos(RHP)- 5 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 7 K's.  ERA= 1.80.

DSL  Gaints pounded the Cardinals 11-3:

Mikey Edie(CF)- 2 for 5, HR(2).  BA= .276.
Carlos Valdez(DH)- 1 for 5, HR(1).  BA- .367.
Manuel Geraldo(SS)- 2 for 4, 3B, SB(6).  BA= .193.
Weilly Yan(RHP)- 3 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 4.61.

Mikey Edie is rapidly climbing in my Giants prospect rankings.

  1. That was an OK outing by Hembree, 2 IP, O R but only 1K.

What does he need to work on? The ERA is a bit high, but this is the PCL we are talking about and he seems to have lowered it a bit, meaning he's been better recently.
