Game Wrap 6/5/2014: Giants 6 Reds 1

Hey team!  The Giants did play a game today and won, winning yet another road series and against a good team.  Michael Morse and Brandon Crawford went deep to support a strong effort by Giants ace, Madison Bumgarner.  Key Lines:

Angel Pagan- 2 for 3, 2 BB.  BA= .321.  Pagan only figured into 1 run scored but certainly did his job, getting on base 4 times.

Pablo Sandoval- 3 for 5.  BA= .251.  Sandoval also got on base and scored twice.

Michael Morse- 1 for 5 HR(13).  BA= .251.  Morse powers up again to get the Giants a lead.

Brandon Crawford- 1 for 3, HR(7), BB.  BA= .236.  Crawford's bat had gotten a big cold of late.  Way to come out of it here!

Madison Bumgarner- 8 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 5 K, GO/AO= 12/1.  ERA= 2.68.  If you want to win in Great American Ballpark, you have to get strikeouts and groundouts.  Do not let the other team put the ball in the air!

The Win increased the Giants lead in the NL West to 8.5 games ahead of the Dodgers who were idle.  The 3'rd place Rockies lost for the 7'th time in a row, this time to the D'Backs 12-7 to fall 10.5 games off the pace, and the wheels have really fallen off for the Rocks.  The idle 4'th place Padres dropped to 12 games back.  The D'Backs remained in last place, 14 games behind.

The Giants now come home for a 3 game series against the Mets and will be playing 17 of their next 22 games at home.  Matt Cain is expected to come off the DL to face Jonathan Niese in Game 1 tomorrow evening.
