  1. One game at a time for Brown, but this has been a heck of a nice 10 game stretch for him: .432/.479/.909/1.388 with 5 HR in 44 AB, and 7 K's, almost 85% contact rate. That's 6 multi-hit games in his last 10 games. Also nice is that he had 6 doubles to go with his 5 homers.

10 games prior: .143/.200/.214/.414 with 11 K's in 42 AB. And that included a 2 for 5 at the start.

But optimism must be tempered, that 2 for 5 ended a nice streak of 6 games where he hit .370/.414/.556/.969 with only 3 K's in 27 AB, and 4 multi-hit games. The nice improvement from streak to streak is the boost in power in this latest streak.

People have also forgotten that Belt had difficulties hitting in AAA too his first big season, .229 BA. His power and walks saved his OPS.

  2. Belt arrived at Fresno at the end of the season, and did not really have that many at bats. I don't think that is a fair comparison. Nevertheless, it is nice to see Brown doing better.

    1. That's true, but my main point is that even the best top prospects struggle too when rising to the next level, like Belt did in the MLB in 2011, so people should take Brown's struggles in context and realize that struggles by itself is not bad, if he's improving over time. And the same goes for Belt too the past couple of seasons, yes, he has had ups and downs, but he is generally getting better and better.

    2. You cannot use the word "struggled" appropriately in reference to a sample size that small!

  3. brown will spend the entire season in fresno and will be sent to play winter ball

he will also get a sept call up...unless the giants choose to give him a break

those that wrote him off for his slow start were wrong and im not gonna get excited about his hot streak, as im sure there are multiple factors

he is still a work in progress, which is why the giants signed pagan to an extension

but i will not be surprised if giants use him as trade bait to get an arm...even if that arm is a 3 or 4 but can be held for another 2 seasons
