Down on the Farm: 8/5/2012

AAA  Memphis Redbirds clobbered the Fresno Grizzlies 9-2:

Francisco Peguero(RF)- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .263.
Conor Gillaspie(3B)- 2 for 3, 2B, BB.  BA= .301.

AA  Richmond Flying Squirrels beat the Harrisburg Senators 6-3 in a game completed after 5.5 innings:

Nick Liles(LF)- 2 for 3.  BA= .276.
Juan Perez(RF)- 2 for 3.  BA= .292.
Craig Westcott(RHP)- 5 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 3.72.

High A  San Jose Giants crushed the Inland Empire 66'ers 12-4:

Adam Duvall(3B)- 1 for 5, HR(24).  BA= .257.
Ricky Oropesa(1B)- 2 for 2.  BA= .249.
Alex Burg(RF)- 3 for 5, 2B.  BA= .272.
Brennan Metzger(PH-DH)- 1 for 1, HR(1), 2 HBP.  BA= .400.
Andrew Susac(C)- 3 for 4, BB.  BA= .229.
Jarrad Page(LF)- 1 for 4, SF, SB(5).  BA= .152.
Chris Lofton(CF)- 2 for 5, SB(17).  BA= .239.
Kelvin Marte(LHP)- 2.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 8.00.
Edward Concepcion(RHP)- 3.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 6.10.

Ricky had a solid single in the first inning and a bloop single down the 3B line later.  Not sure why he came out early.  Parker did too.  Page's hit was a bunt single that the pitcher bobbled but probably would not have gotten him anyway.  Page is bigger than I expected.  If he can ever hit, he'll be a good one.  Marte came out of the game with an apparent injury.  Concepcion's FB was sitting 96-98 MPH on the stadium gun.

Low A  Augusta Greenjackets defeated the Charleston River Dogs 7-1:

Jesus Galindo(CF)- 2 for 4, Sac, 2 SB(37).  BA= .261.
Shawn Payne(LF- 2 for 5, 3B.  BA= .313.
Devin Harris(RF)- 1 for 3, HR(3), 2 BB.  BA= .286.
Edwin Escobar(LHP)- 7 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 7 K's.  ERA= 3.50.
Derek Law(RHP)- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 2.79.

Short Season  Salem-Keizer Volcanoes topped the Everett Aquasox 9-5:

Mac Williamson(RF)- 3 for 4, HR(2), HBP.  BA= .316.
Charles Jones(CF)- 1 for 4, 2B, BB.  BA= .232.
Michael Mergenthaler(LF)- 4 for 5, 3 2B.  BA= .227.
Dashenko Ricardo(C)- 2 for 5, HR(2).  BA= .299.
Chris Stratton(RHP)- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K's.  ERA= 5.40.

Rookie AZL  Giants out hit the Cubs 8-6:

Tyler Hollick(LF)- 3 for 4, 2B, BB, SB(9), Assist(3B).  BA= .373.
Hector Mercedes(RF)- 2 for 5.  BA= .276.
Shayne Houck(3B)- 2 for 4, HR(1).  BA= .235.
Jonathan Jones(.287), Gabe Cornier(.323), Shilo McCall(.264) and Travious Relaford().318)- 1 double each. Releford also drew a walk.
Martin Agosta(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 0 K.  ERA= 0.00.
Tyler Hess(RHP)- 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 3.29.

Hollick is looking like the steal of the draft.  Move him up!

DSL  Giants were idle.

  1. I was playing around with what the rosters may be next year, and we all know that the SJ rotation looks to be fun (Stratton, Mejia, Crick, Blackburn, Agosta).

However, the Augusta offense looks pretty fun as well...

    Dashenko
    Relaford
    Polonius
    Williamson
    Fuentes
    Rodriguez
    Jones

    Raw, but HIGH potential...

  3. No love for Duvall? He leads the league in HR's....not even a mention that he is red hot? Over his last 10 games he's got .348BA 7HR's 20RBI's 1.192OPS. I see that Ricky Oropesa got a couple of hits. }:^)

    1. I think we've talked about Duvall some. I know his line has been included in the rundown almost every night. Yeah, Duvall is hot. I'm concerned about his BA and about his D.
