  1. Ok, seriously, might Jackson Williams make a decent backup for some team? Two years ago, I never would have bet he'd carry a 276 AVG to go with some pop for a 760 OPS at AAA. Even figuring for the PCL environment, it's not too shabby a line for a defense first backup. I don't think he'll figure into the Giants plan's because they have an abundance of catchers right now, but maybe they'll turn him into the next Kontos. With MadBum the 2007 draft is obviously now a success, and the replacement level time from Culberson and the relief corp/crop is a little nice gravy, but maybe people we *gave up* on like Williams and Noonan can still mine some more value from 2007.

    1. Yeah, not too bad, his MLE for Fresno this season is .241/.266/.402/.668, and he's been known for his great defense, even before signing with us. Maybe if Hector is moved to another position, he can be our backup, or as you noted, trade bait for a good reliever.

Noonan I'm still high on. He's finally putting everything together and part of the issue has been that he's been too young for the league, and so he was struggling due to that lack of experience, relatively to the competition. His MLE is .283/.330/.366/.696 for this season, plus, the MLE does not adjust for age, as Noonan is only 23 YO while Williams is 26 YO, and might raise the MLE up some then. That's a pretty good OBP, but unfortunately, he doesn't steal many bases anymore, else he could be good for leadoff.

  2. Is Royel Astasio a legitimate 3B prospect in the Giants system??

  3. Is Franky Pegs the first prospect to go as trade bait at the deadline?

    2. I doubt Gonor has much trade value. Peggy, however, could bring something back...

  4. They have a man-of-all-skills at Richmond. I figured it was one of those publicity stunts. Weeks pitched the last inning yesterday and is playing SS today. Joel has played just about every position at Richmond. It's pretty neat...
