Down on the Farm: 5/25/2012

AAA  Colorado Springs Sky Sox defeated the Fresno Grizzlies 5-1:

Shawn Sanford(RHP)- 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 6 K's.  ERA= 0.00.

Surprise callup for Sanford and a very nice AAA debut in a losing cause.

AA  Richmond Flying Squirrels topped the Trenton Thunder 4-1:

Nick Liles(RF)- 2 for 4.  BA= .283.
Daniel Mayora(3B)- 2 for 3, 3B, BB.  BA= .314.
Tommy Joseph(C)- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .258.
Austin Fleet(RHP)- 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 2.14.

Tommy Joseph makes his first appearance since May 12.

High A  San Jose Giants out hit the Bakersfield Blaze 9-5:

Ryan Lollis(CF)- 4 for 5, BB.  BA= .347.
Joe Panik(SS)- 1 for 4, 2 BB.  BA= .254.
Adam Duvall(3B)- 3 for 4, 2 BB.  BA= .267.
Ricky Oropesa(1B)- 2 for 6, 2B.  BA= .272.
Andrew Susac(C)- 2 for 4, BB, HBP.  BA= .253.
Jarrett Parker(LF)- 3 for 5, 2 2B.  BA= .197.
Hector Correa(RHP)- 4 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 4 BB, 6 K's.  ERA= 5.14.

The whole SJ lineup has been hitting better lately.  It looks like the Giants are stretching out Correa to make him a starter.

Low A  Augusta Greenjackets edged the Savannah Sand Gnats  2-1:

Kyle Crick(RHP)- 4 IP, 8 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 8 K's.  ERA= 3.06.
Demondre Arnold(RHP)- 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA= 3.33.
Derek Law(RHP)- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 1.90.

Crick gave up some hits but had a dominant K/BB.

  1. when i saw that sanford got the er call, i made a point to listen and watch on gameday

really wish they would post pitch selection...but it seems sanford was using his sinker as his out pitch..that is what the k's came on...and he was getting a lot of fly ball outs...was a very solid start

so is sanford now an official sleeper?

    1. Well, I think he's been a sleeper. He might be emerging from his sleep though. The callup was probably due mainly to organizational needs and a geographic proximity, but I do think the Giants like Sanford.

  2. I just can't believe this decision. Sanford had a solid start but seriously? He wasn't great in San jose. You have a guy absolutely dominating in AA . . . I don't get it.

    1. I assume the need for a starter for Fresno was on short notice and San Jose is a lot closer than Richmond, VA. That's how these decisions are usually made. I do think the Giants like Sanford a lot though.

  3. Duvall heating up is certainly encouraging. And the whole SJ offense, for that matter. It sure is nice to be able to follow several Giants' minor league hitters each summer - a pleasant change from years past.
