Down on the Farm: 7/30/2011

AAA Fresno Grizzlies beat the Reno Aces 7-4:

Justin Christian(RF)- 2 for 3, 3B, BB, Assist(3B). BA= .321.
Tyler Graham(CF)- 1 for 3, HBP, SB(51). BA= .269.
Hector Sanchez(C)- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .280.
Matt Yourkin(LHP)- 6.1 IP, 10 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 8 K's. ERA= 4.86.
Dan Otero(RHP)- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, Save(6). ERA= 3.05.

AA Trenton Thunder rolled over the Richmond Flying Squirrels 17-5:

Roger Kieschnick(RF)- 1 for 4, HR(13). BA= .264.

Needless to say, the pitching lines are horrific.

High A San Jose Giants edged the Lancaster Jethawks 4-3:

Gary Brown(CF)- 2 for 4, 3B, OF Assist(2B). BA= .321.
Chris Heston(RHP)- 8 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 8 K's, GO/AO= 8/2. ERA= 3.75.

Low A Augusta Greenjackets topped the Hickory Crawdads 6-5:

Carlos Willoughby(2B)- 1 for 3, 3B, HBP. BA= .266.
Chris Lofton(CF)- 3 for 4, 2 2B. BA= .267.
Jeff Arnold(C)- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .224.
Brett Bochy(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's, Save(2). ERA= 1.69.

Lofton is hitting .342 over his last 10 games and .288 since April. His overall OBP is .357.

Short Season Yakima Bears mauled the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 9-2:

Joe Panik(SS)- 2 for 4, 3B. BA= .340.
Brandon Allen(RHP)- 3 IP, 11 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 0 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 6.58.
Matt Graham(RHP)- 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA= 8.72.

A step back for Allen, another baby step for Graham.

Rookie AZL Giants downed the D'Backs 5-3:

Jose Cuevas(3B)- 1 for 3, HR(7), BB. BA= .310.
Major Blair(RF)- 3 for 4. BA= .333.
Joan Gregorio(RHP)- 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 1.77.
Kyle Crick(RHP)- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 0.00.

DSL Mets1 topped the Giants 2-1 in a game completed early after 6 1/2 innings:

  1. DrB, with Thomas Neal traded, I'm curious as to how would you rate the Giants OF prospects? My guess is: (1) Gary Brown, (2) Francisco Peguero, (3) Roger Kieshnick, (4) Jarrett Parker? From what I've read, Brown and Peguero project as starting outfielders in the majors. I haven't read much about Kieshnick and Parker..Thanks for your good work.

    That's about right as far as the players in High A or above. I still think RafRod has a high ceiling and I'm even higher on Leonardo Fuentes. Two "sleepers" to watch for: Jesus Galindo and Chris Lofton.

    Parker and Kieschnick have more power projection than either Peguero or Brown but have had trouble maintaining a projectable BA so far.
