Down on the Farm: 5/22/2011

AAA New Orleans Zephyrs defeated the Fresno Grizzlies 5-2:

Tyler Graham- 2 for 4, 3B, BB, SB(20). BA= .246.
Doug Mathis- 6 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 3.47.

Not much to see here.

AA Richmond Flying Squirrels edged the Reading Phillies 3-2:

Justin Christian(LF)- 2 for 4, HR(2). BA= .286.
Clayton Tanner(LHP)- 7 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 4 K's, GO/AO= 10/5.

Tanner had a perfect game going to 6.2 IP before giving up a single, HR and double before getting the 3'rd out of the inning. Even more impressive is what Tanner has been doing with his K/BB over his last few starts. I have to admit that after his first two games this year, I was ready to write Tanner off as a prospect, but he's steadily improved as the season as progressed. Over his last 3 starts, his line is 1-1, 1.90, 19 IP, 2 BB, 14 K's all while maintaining a GO/AO > 1. He's 23 years old. Not young, but not impossibly old either. Still has a chance to be a back of the rotation starter in MLB.

A+ San Jose Giants blanked the Stockton Ports 5-0:

Gary Brown(DH)- 1 for 4, HR(5), HBP, SB(26). BA= .366.
Brandon Crawford(SS)- 1 for 4, HR(2). BA= .286.
Ryan Cavan(2B)- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .278.
Jarrett Parker- 2 for 4, SB(6). BA= .259.
Chris Dominguez(3B)- 0 for 2, BB, HBP, SB(6). BA= .277.
Craig Westcott(RHP)- 7 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 3.13.
Hector Correa(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K. ERA= 2.43.
Ari Ronick(LHP)- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA- 1.54.

The Little Giants did not allow a hit until the leadoff batter of the 9'th inning.

Low A Augusta Greenjackets downed the Charleston River Dogs 5-2:

Drew Biery(1B)- 2 for 4, HR(3). BA= .289.
Rafael Rodriguez(LF)- 2 for 4. BA= .266.
Taylor Rogers(RHP)- 7 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 2.58
Edward Concepcion(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA= 4.58.
Stephen Harrold(RHP)- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K's, Save(5). ERA= 1.69

Not much to say about this one.

  1. wait till you see tonite's baby g's box score...man, if hector can keep this up through aa, giants might actually have themselves an actual power hitter

note on fresno game...kroon was charged with two wild pitches, scoring two runs, but the way they were described, they were actually passed balls, skipping off of stewart's glove...the guy still has great stuff

he was joking about retiring in an on twitter feud with belt (you gotta read it...its hilarious) i really hope he doesnt...he will probably take the opt out on june 1, but i gotta believe that one of the 25 teams is gonna grab him

gotta believe that there will be a lot of movement come the break...evans has his work cut out for him
