AA Richmond Flying Squirrels were idle.

High A Lancaster Jethawks downed the San Jose Giants 6-2:

Juan Perez- 3 for 4, 2B, HR(10). BA= .302.
Justin Fitzgerald- 6 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 0 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 3 .77.

Perez has been a definite bright spot in the organization this year.

Low A Augusta Greenjackets blanked the Asheville Tourists 8-0:

Nick Liles- 2 for 5. BA= .311.
Chris Dominguez- 3 for 4, HR(17). BA= .261.

Dominguez has run hot and cold, but is hot right now. Marte gets the start as the Giants seem to be experimenting with giving some guys who have been relieving some starts throughout the organization. Good to see that. Toole had a dominant outing coming out of the bullpen.

  1. Surprised you didn't mention RafRod. Wasn't he struggling earlier in the season?

Nice catch on the move of relievers into starting. Apparently they realize that they are short on starters and now seeing who might be able to make the leap next season.

The Giants, as you know, has always had the philosophy that they can move pitchers from relief to starting, and vice-versa, as needed, Rod Beck was a starter and Russ Ortiz was a reliever. They are just doing it again!

  2. Yup, RafRod had a good game. He started out in Salem-Keizer and either got hurt or was overmatched. He spent some time in camp before re-emerging with the AZL Giants where he has hit better lately and has even shown a bit of power.
