Down on the Farm: 06-09-2010

A thin schedule down on the farm tonight as the PCL and SAL are both idle today.

AA Richmond Flying Squirrels edged the New Britain Rock Cats 2-1:

Thomas Neal- 1 for 3, OF assist(home). BA= .270.
David Mixon- 7 IP, 8 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 3.13.

The Squirrels managed just 3 hits and both runs were unearned against a very good pitching prospect in Deolis Guerra.

High A San Jose Giants outlasted the Modesto Nuts 4-3 in 14 innings:

Brandon Belt- 2 for 6, HR(6), BB, SB(13). BA= .376.
Charlie Culberson-2 for 7, 2B(19). BA= .295.
Drew Biery- 2 for 6, HR(6), SB(4). BA= .274.
Eric Stolp- 7 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 BB,1 K, GO/AO= 15/5. ERA= 3.27.
David Quinowski- 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K's. ERA= 3.18.
Brian Anderson- 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 2.35.

The usual set of highlights for SJ. Stolp has a GO/AO of 2.94 which is about as extreme as it gets. A dominant outing for Quinowski. Not sure why he is not pitching more often as he has often gone 5-7 days between relief appearances.

DSL Giants blanked the Marlins 4-0:

Gabriel Cornier- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .389.
Juan Nova- 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 7 K's. ERA= 4.32.
Luis Utria- 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 0.00.

Cornier is in his second DSL season, he turned 18 today. Juan Nova is a 6'3" 190 lb 18 yo RHP. Luis Utria is a small LHP who is still 17 yo.
