Down on the Farm: 05-24-2010

AAA Memphis Redbirds trounced the Fresno Grizzlies 8-1:

Buster Posey- 4 for 4, 2B. BA= .344.
Eric Hacker- 4 IP, 11 H, 8 R, 2 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 3.49.
Henry Sosa- 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 1.37.
Joe Paterson- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K. ERA= 1.86.

Posey had been in a mini slump. Hacker had been the best of the AAA pitchers before tonight. Paterson apparently completed a rehab asslgnment and is back in Fresno.

AA Richmond Flying Squirrels edged the Binghampton Mets 3-2:

Brandon Crawford- 1 for 4, HR(5). BA= .252.
Thomas Neal- 2 for 4, HR(3). BA= .263.
David Mixon- 5.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 3.27.
Rafael Cova- 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K's, Save(9). ERA= 0.59.

Not much to comment on here.

High A San Jose pounded the Modesto Nuts 10-2:

Juan Perez- 3 for 3, 2B, 2 BB, 2 SB. BA= .354.
Francisco Peguero- 2 for 5. BA= .279.
Brandon Belt- 2 for 5, 2B. BA= .384.
Wendell Fairley- 2 for 5, SB(2). BA= .283.
Ehire Adrianza- 2 for 5. BA= .237.
Justin Fitzgerald- 7 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 2.00.

Fairley is hitting .324 over his last 10 games. Fitz has looked really strong as a starter so far this year.

Low A Rome Braves bested the Augusta Greejackets 3-1:

Kyle Vazquez- 7 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 2.61.

Vazquez got a taste of what pitching for the Giants is like as the Greenjackets mustered just 2 hits on the night.

  1. Say, just noticed that Fairley is only playing in LF this season. With his speed and lack of power, CF would seem to be his niche, are they already planning on him being a utility bench OF?

  2. Fairley played mostly LF last year too. Yes, he is going to have to hit for more power.

  3. Dr. B you got a shout out from some clowns on the Giants board. I am more critical of Brian Sabean than you are, but regardless, I have enjoyed your posts on the Giants board for some six or seven years now, so ignore their nonsense and keep at it!
