Down on the Farm: 05-21-2010

AAA Nashville Sounds beat the Fresno Grizzlies 3-1:

Brett Pill- 2 for 4 2B. BA= .284.
Steve Edlefsen- 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 1 K. ERA= 1.38.

Pill continues to be a doubles machine. Edlefsen needs to watch the BB's.

AA Reading Phillies beat the Richmond Flying Squirrels 7-3:

Wow! Absolutely nothing to see here! We'll move on to High A.....OK, that's better.....

High A San Jose Giants pounded the Modesto Nuts 13-3:

OK, I guess this is just a bad night. It looks ike the San Jose Boxscore is all messed up, especially the batting averages, but it looks like the players are listed out of order too. I'll have to catch up with this one later.

Low A Augusta Greenjackets topped the Greenville Drive 5-2:

NIck Liles - 3 for 4, 2B. BA= .292.
Jorge Bucardo- 4.2 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 2.27.
Chris Gloor- 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 2.42.
Ryan Verdugo- 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 3.95.

Dominant bullpen work by Gloor and Verdugo.

  1. doc, the baby g's played a dh...that is why you may be confused...they lost the 2nd game

im wondering why the grizzlies are not getting more press....decker has them running away with the division

ya, i know its only aaa....but he is the first manager to put together not only a winning team, but a dominant one

wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that he really knows most of the players

    was kinney dfa'd?

  2. Not saying Steve Decker is not a good manager, or that he won't make a good MLB manager, but I'd say it's doubtful that he is personally the major reason why Fresno has a good record so far this year. Success as a minor league manager does not necessarily translate into success at the MLB level either. Remember Joe Altobelli? I'll just say that Decker appears to be doing a good job of managing in the Giants minor league system and might make a good manager for the Giants someday, and leave it at that.
