Game Wrap 04-17-2010: Addendum

Baggs is reporting that the Giants will place Aaron Rowand on the 15 day DL and recall Matt Downs from Fresno. This is the right move, IMO, though a shame in that Rowand was off to a pretty decent start this season. No further word on the status of Mark DeRosa, but I wouldn't expect him to be the in lineup tomorrow where the Giants could use him against LHP Clayton Kershaw.

Around the League:

Ubaldo Jimenez no-no'd the Atlanta Braves in a 4-0 win for the Colorado Rockies. Man, I would pay to see Ubaldo and Timmy hook up in a pitcher's duel, preferably in SF, of course.

They're in the 19'th inning of a 0-0 tie between the Mets and Cards. Rookie Jaime Garcia started it off matching Johan Santana in goose eggs. I have Garcia on my fantasy team, the Savvy Vets. Stay tuned on this one. It looks like they've run out of pitchers and are using position players to pitch in this one!

Update: Joe Mather showed his inexperience pitching by giving up a run to the Mets in the top of the 20'th inning on 3 walks, 0 hits. The Cards had used Felipe Lopez for an inning before that! Francisco Rodriguez is in to try to close it out for the Mets.

Ludwick draws a walk to open the bottom of the 9'th. Pujols to the plate. The Mets have neutralized Pujols by walking him 4 times and Holliday has failed to protect him. Oh my! With Albert Pujols at the plate, Ludwick is thrown out trying to steal 2B! What a brain dead baserunning mistake!

And Pujols doubles to LF! Ludwick might have scored on the play or at least been part of a 2'nd and 3'rd with 0 outs!

Now Kyle Lohse is batting because the Cards' bench is empty! Lohse is playing LF! Lohse grounds out to SS, Pujols to third. It's all up to Yadi Molina now.

Yadier Molina singles to drive in Pujols and tie up the game at 1-1 again! Allen Craig strikes out, so they're headed to the top of the 21'st inning!

The Mets score a run in the top of the 21'st off Poor Joe Mather. Mike Pelfrey comes in to get the Save. KRod gets a very undeserved W. Whew!!

Late Entry: Mark DeRosa's hammy is being described as "mild" and he hasn't ruled out playing tomorrow.
