AAA Las Vegas 51's edged the Fresno Grizzlies 2-1:
Brock Bond- 3 for 5. BA= .333.
Eddy Martinez-Esteve- 2 for 2.
Kevin Pucetas- 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 1 K.
Steve Edlefsen- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.
Pucetas was a bit better than his first start. Las Vegas is a tough place to pitch too.
Brock Bond picking up where he left off last year in AA.
The Altoona Curve outlasted the Richmond Flying Squirrels 1-0 in 14 innings:
Thomas Neal- 1 for 5, 2B.
Michael MacDonald- 6 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K's.
Tony Pena-3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.
Dan Turpen- 3 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.
MacDonald is probably not a prospect. Pena putting up some interesting numbers so far.
San Jose Giants beat the Visalia Rawhide 7-2:
Juan Perez- 2 for 4, HR(1).
Brandon Belt- 1 for 2, 2B, BB, HBP, 2 SB(4).
Aaron King- 5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 4 K's
Busy night for Belt who is not flinching at starting his pro career in High A. King is young for the level and might be the best pitching prospect on the team.
Augusta Greenjackets made it two in a row over the Savannah Sand Gnats 8-3:
Evan Crawford= 0 for 5. BA= .160.
Ryan Cavan- 3 for 5, 2 2B, SB(5). BA= .333.
Luke Anders- 2 for 4, 2 2B. BA- .391.
Chris Dominguez 2 for 4, SB(2), 0 K's. BA= .360.
Jeremy Toole- 3.1 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K's.
Jose Valdez- 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K's.
Chris Gloor- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K's.
Crawford didn't have such a good night. Cavan has been the offensive star so far. Dominguez is having an encouraging start to his season. Watch out for Jose Valdez! He could have a Dan Runzler type season! I think Gloor is going to dominate too.

ReplyDeleteThanks. Most of my posting in the regular season will be the Game Wraps and Down on the Farm notes. I'll still try to sneak in a few Blasts from the Past as well as draft stuff as we get closer to June. Hope it's worth coming back for.

Valdez is a huge kid, 6'7" who was one of BA's top 10 AZL prospects when he was 17. mid-90's fastball. He missed a year with TJ. Came back to pitch fairly well last year for S-K. I think the second year back after surgery is the year to watch for breakouts. He certainly has the talent, now the experience and hopefully health to really dominate.
