Around the League

The Giants were idle yesterday, but there was activity that impacted their standings in the league:

Arizona pounded the Chicago Cubs 13-5 to even their record at 11-11.

San Diego got it's second great game in a row from Wade LeBlanc and dominated the BrewCrew 9-0 to move another half game ahead of the Giants at 14-8.

LA's struggles continued. This time it was the hitting that stunk it up in Dodger Stadium in losing to the Pirates 2-0. Former Giants farmhand Brian Burres has been kind of a Special Agent as he got lit up by the Giants but pitched like Cy Young against the bad guys. Well, maybe not like Cy Young. He only went 5.1 IP, and walked 4 batters, but he didn't allow a run and then Special Agent Jack Taschner came in and pitched 2.2 more shutout innings. The Dodgers sank deeper into the NL West cellar with a 8-14 record, 6 games behind the Padres.

The Giants now stand in second place in the NL West 1.5 games behind the Padres at 12-9, and 1.5 games ahead of Colorado and Arizona.

Note: I will be away from access to the internet for 24 hours starting this evening, so no updates tonight. I will catch up Saturday night. Thanks for your support, everybody!
